About me:
This page used to contain trivial bits about me, but that was me in a previous life; much has changed since 2006. Professionally, I teach high school English and coach swimming. Personally, I am a husband, homeowner, and sometimes recreational triathlete. My wife & I have also submitted paper work to become a foster home for the local chapter of the Humane Society. In what little time remains, I am pursuing a master's degree in instructional technology from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.
What I do:
I graduated from UTSA in 2003 with a degree in English and certification to teach said subject at the secondary level. I spent two years teaching writing for a middle school in the Harlandale school district; I now teach high school in the SCUC ISD. An updated resume and education portfolio will be posted in the not-too-distant future.
What 'off242' is:
Until 2003, Off was Front 242's last studio album (Front 242 is my favourite music group, followed closely by The Cure), released in 1993. A new album, Pulse, was released earlier this year and is available for purchase at your local Borders or online at front242usa.com. Back to the story.
When signing up for Internet service in the fall of '93, I needed to come up with a screen name as my first choice was already in use. Off was atop my monitor, in plain view, and 242 was added to make up the extra characters necessary for the screen name. For more, including an explanation of the target as my logo, visit this page.
Why this site is so plain:
Once upon a time, I had a grand vision of putting up a web site with all sorts of cool and flashy tricks and, of course, oodles of content on a variety of subjects, including the aforementioned Front 242. After nearly four years of struggling to maintain this site, I have more or less given up, trying to create content as static in nature as possible. I will update as time permits, but lately, time hasn't been too permitting. Changes will come as they will, but feel free to send a message to me if there's anything terribly urgent you wish to discuss.
