I absolutely hate going to the movies. Paying eight bucks to get into a crowded, often ridiculously cold room with moderately comfy chairs in order to watch a brand-spankin'-new movie that may or may not be worth the money is just not my cup of tea...especially these days, but we won't go there.
Home theater, on the other hand, offers all of the perks in terms of technology of what you get at the area multiplex with the added benefits of cheaper (and better-tasting) drinks & popcorn, and a movie virtually guaranteed to be good -- that starts when you want it to and with the ability to pause if you gotta go pee. When done right, home theater just plain rocks. But it ain't easy...or cheap. However, I've had years to hone what I have, and it has been well worth the wait.
Here will be outlined my home theater setup -- which isn't the best, by any means; for that visit the masters. I would personally say my setup is modest, at best, but is still many times better than going to the movie house and as close as finding the remote control. >>
