Speakers of the House
Fancy & flashy electronics gear is nice, for sure, but it doesn't mean squat if speakers aren't properly placed.
Assuming you've a compatible surround sound receiver (you do know that surround sound involves more than just putting speakers in front & behind the listner, right?), you'll be needing six speakers: Two front/main, two rear, one sub, and one center, center being the most important of the lot; it handles around 80% of what is heard in most Dolby Pro-Logic/Digital and/or DTS encoded flicks.
Generally speaking, it works best of same-branded speakers are used throughout, especially with the front & center channels. I deviated from that a bit; my main two front speakers are Klipsch 0.5's, while the outward front speakers are Optimus XXXX. My center channel is also an Optimus, though I've plans to replace it and other non-Klipsch speakers with an all-Klipsch setup...once I hit super lotto or something.
